Xiaomi Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus Price Leaked Ahead Of Launch

Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones in China on December 7.

Sunil claimed that Xiamoi has become the fastest growing smartphone brand in India with a growth rate of almost 300 per cent Year on Year, with a 23.5 per cent market share and having shipped 9.2 million smartphones in the third quarter of this year.

According to a AliExpress listing, the Redmi 5 price will be $199.99 (roughly Rs. 12,900) for the 2GB RAM and 16GB storage model.

On the other hand, the Redmi 5 Plus for the Black and Gold color variants are priced at $249 (approximately Rs 16,000) while the Blue and Pink color variants are priced at $259 (approximately Rs 16,500). The company has, however, not revealed the price of the smartphones yet.

A seller on AliExpress listings with the name Xiaomi Online Store has leaked the pricing of the phone. MIUI 9 is the company's latest Android-based skin, MIUI, and it comes with a number of enhancements over MIUI 8. The chipset will be Snapdragon 450 - a 14nm process unit with octa-core CPU and Adreno 506 GPU.

Both the phones are expected to be first to feature bezel-less display in a budget smartphone segment.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A is a "Made in India" smartphone and the successor to the Redmi 4A. However, a previous report has suggested that the device will feature a rear camera of 8-megapixel and front camera of 6-megapixel. The smartphone is listed to run Android 7.1.2, tipping an MIUI 9 build out-of-the-box. It is said to sport 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. It will possibly launch in two variants of 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The camera on the back will be 12 MP.
