Last February, A Tribe Called Quest were joined by Busta Rhymes and Anderson.Paak for a show-stealing Grammy Awards performance that included "We The People", "Movin Backwards", and splashes of "Can I Kick It?" and "Award Tour".
In the first of five Instagram videos uploaded on Tuesday afternoon, Q-Tip expressed frustration with the snub after being asked by the Grammys to perform in the wake of Phife Dawg's passing: "Y'all fuckin busted y'all ass to try and get us out there and perform!" "I'm sick of you f*cking Grammy niggas, you bug us to get out there and perform previous year and close your shit and you don't give us no f*cking nominations- 9th [Wonder] what happened?" We were the most Black, cultured group out!
He goes onto to say that he respects anyone else that's nominated but is not down with the Grammy committee, especially after they got them to close out the ceremony previous year.
"This fucking album that we just put out-this last Tribe album-it stands with everybody else's shit that's up there".
"I'm sick of y'all fuckin Grammy n-ggas man. Y'all fuckin' get us to get out there and fuckin' perform past year and close the shit and y'all don't get us no fuckin' nomination?" he said. "That's what we represented". Thank You 4 Your Service, their sixth and final album and their first full-length since 1998. "I don't give a fuck". "Respect to everybody who is nominated and all that, but whatever, I'm speaking for mine".
You can find it alongside Q-Tip's rant in the players below. Ya didn't even give Bob Marley the fucking Grammy. Y'all see what the f*ck we do over there. I'm exhausted of bitin' my tongue all the f*ckin' time and trying to be nice and sh*t. Marvin [Gaye] only got f*ckin' one. Motherfucking right I'm hot. Y'all ni**as is corny. "F- y'all Grammy n--s".
