Experiment 101, the team behind the celebrated Biomutant, has been snagged up by THQ Nordic along with the rights to the game's IP.
Biomutant is now in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC but more info won't drop until 2018.
THQ Nordic today announced that it has acquired 100 percent of the shares from developer Experiment 101, as well as the intellectual property of Biomutant.
Though THQ Nordic announced during Gamescom in August this past year that it would be publishing Biomutant, the two entities remained independent of each other from an ownership standpoint.
THQ Nordic is meant to represent a core approach of doing much more than "owning" a highly competitive portfolio of IPs.
The company's internal development studios are Grimlore Games based in Munich, Germany; Rainbow Studios based in Phoenix, Arizona; Mirage Game Studios AB based in Karlstad, Sweden; Foxglove Studios AB based in Stockholm, Sweden; Black Forest Games based in Offenburg, Germany, Pieces Interactive based in Skoevde, Sweden, and Experiment 101 based in Stockholm, Sweden.
I bet you are thinking "Why acquire Biomutant, is it worth it?" Hopefully both Darksiders and Biomutant can make a good first impression for the relatively new publisher and prove itself worthy of being a good publisher like its original namesake, THQ.
Wingefors went on to say that...
After THQNordic explained all of this in the bite-sized tweet, many gamers were concerned that the company would follow EA and would shut down future companies acquired.
THQ Nordic has officially bought Experiment101 as opposed to acting exclusively as their publisher.
