The American Heart Association is looking for volunteers who can crochet or knit to make simple, red infant hats for babies born in February.
Participating hospitals include Hilton Head Hospital and Coastal Carolina in Beaufort County, along with others around SC and the nation.
The American Heart Association and The Children's Heart Foundation co-fund the Congenital Heart Defect Research Awards.
To find out where to send finished hats, head to the website and select your state.
There are sample patterns on the website too.
- Baby-sized or preemie-sized red hats that are knitted or crocheted from cotton or acrylic medium- to heavyweight yarn.
Hospital workers can get involved in the project too, they just need to contact their local office.
The program, which started in Chicago three years ago, generated around 300 hats.
Thank you for making this program so special and for helping to spread awareness of heart disease and congenital heart defects.
