NBC Dismisses News Executive for Misconduct

News has fired the executive who spearheaded its talent booking department following accusations of inappropriate conduct with multiple women.

"We have recently learned that Matt Zimmerman engaged in inappropriate conduct with more than one woman", an NBC spokesperson said in a statement to the Daily News.

News dismissed a senior executive Tuesday after multiple women accused him of misconduct. NBC News policy stipulates that such relationships must be disclosed to human resources.

Zimmerman worked at NBC for 13 years and served as the senior vice president of booking, news and entertainment since 2014, a role that would have put him in a position of power within the newsroom, according to TVNewser. Journalist Emily Miller claimed on Twitter that Halperin "attacked" her and Halperin was dropped by his Game Change publisher as well as HBO, which had optioned his upcoming campaign 2016 book with writing partner John Heilemann.

A wave of sexual harassment allegations have recently been lobbed against celebrities, politicians and news personalities, starting with the shocking claims against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein last month.

Zimmerman is widely known to be one of "Today" co-host Matt Lauer's closest associates and confidants at the network.

Brian Flood covers the media for Fox News.
