India Ousted From U-19 Asia Cup After Bangladesh Thrashing

With one win and two defeats in three matches, India U-19 finished third in Group A - above hosts Malaysia.

Nov 14, 2017-Nepal reached the semi-final of ACC U19 semi-final for the first time after Bangladesh defeated defending champions India by eight wickets.

Unfancied Nepal produced the shock of the tournament when they beat India last weekend and will face Afghanistan in the semi-finals on Friday after making short work of Malaysia at the Bayuemas Oval in Klang.

Bangladesh, who elected to field, picked up wickets at regular intervals and reduced India to 85 for four at the halfway mark.

India, without two of their key batsmen in Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill, couldn't manage a single half-century, with Salman Khan's unbeaten 39 from No. 7 being the highest.

India U-19 team failed to get off to a good start, and things would have gone haywire had not Salman Khan (39) and Anuj Rawat (34) chipped in with some big hitting at the fag end. The duo stitched 82 runs partnership to put their team in driver's seat. Ghosh then teamed up with Mohammad Tawhid Hridoy to accelerate towards victory with an unbroken 83-run stand for the fourth wicket. Hridoy was aggressive in his unbeaten 48, which came off 32 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours.

Nepal had won their game against Malaysia but had to wait for the result of the Bangaldesh-India match. In a 24-over game, Malaysia slipped from 33 without loss to 45 all out. The Bangladesh batsmen performed just the opposite of Indians and chased down the target with four overs remaining.
