According to TVLine, HBO is looking to start shooting in the fall of next year.
Cancelled in 2006 without closure, and when grown up TV shows fell foul to small ratings and escalating budgets, Deadwood has been the subject of a movie revival for years.
At the Television Critics Association summer press tour, HBO top programming executive, Casey Bloys said he was pleased with the script series creator David Milch has written.
Though TVLine claims to have their sources, they admit that a representative from HBO declined to comment about the project, which hasn't actually gotten the green light, yet. "The one thing that I was concerned about was I wanted a script that would stand on its own [for fans of "Deadwood" fans and newcomers]", he said. I think it's a terrific script. Ian McShane stars in Starz's American Gods, a spring series with a lengthy post-production process, which could give the actor a free window if Season 3 becomes a reality. "[It] was maybe the best experience I ever had". Although the shows won eight Emmy Awards, HBO decided not to move forward with Season 4.
