Rumors are afloat that Verna, Shoaib Mansoor's much-awaited film, has been banned by the Central Board of Film Censors. "The film doesn't have to be banned, and can be tweaked and censored a bit to be deemed fit for release", said general secretary Abdul Razzaq Khuhawar of Sindh Board of Film Censors (SBFC).
According to reports, however, CBFC says that the fate of the film "has yet to be decided". Her film Verna is facing extreme opposition in Pakistan.
An official press statement by Mansoor indicated that the director has appealed to the CBFC "for the urgent relief of Verna".
The Shoaib Mansoor directed movie is based on the social issue of rape and sexual harassment where Mahira will be seen playing a rape survivor.
Whereas the 32-year-old Mahira Khan was also part of "Bol" which was her debut film.
"We are looking into the "unanimous objections" raised by a panel of CBFC on Verna after the preview under the relevant laws", Chairman CBFC Mubashar Hassan told Images.
Exclusively talking to Dunya News, Mahira Khan hoped that censor board will soon clear the film as the concept is good and everything in the movie handled carefully.
