The Boston Celtics keep on chugging along. He was sent home at halftime and sat out Sunday's victory over the Toronto Raptors in Boston. Expect Irving to be a full go against the Nets, but he is expected to wear a mask for the next two weeks to protect the facial fracture he suffered. Coach Brad Stevens said earlier that he, too, was planning on Irving playing tonight. "I'd say that's between him and our medical staff, but he went through everything this morning and hopefully he'll be available". It will be Irving's third time donning a protective mask, wearing an all-black, Batman-like one in 2012 against the Knicks because of a broken jaw, and again in 2013 with a broken nose. He told reporters that he plans to wear a face mask in Brooklyn. He was averaging 22 points and 5.7 assists per game prior to the injury while stepping up as its unquestionable leader in the wake of star forward Gordon Hayward's absence.
