Several major titles will receive Xbox One X enhancements to enable players to get the best possible gameplay experience.
Numerous biggest Xbox One games have received sizable updates to give them 4K resolution support and other enhancements when played on Xbox One X. Unsurprisingly, more games are in line to receive Xbox One X updates, with Blizzard preparing a patch for its popular hero shooter Overwatch that will give it 4K resolution when played on Microsoft's latest console. If Blizzard can also implement HDR at some point down the line, Overwatch will look stunning on Xbox One X with its vibrant and vivid colors.
According to Blizzard, an Xbox One X update is already in the works for Overwatch, though the studio stopped short of providing a specific date it will be available.
"The team is now exploring how the game experience can be enhanced on this platform to leverage the console's incredible hardware", it said.
Blizzard said it's "very important for the team to make sure the user interface looks natural on a truly big screen", and will provide more details about its plans for 4K support on Xbox One X sometime in the future. Blizzard seems to have more plans for the console beyond that, but they're weighing concerns like the user interface against their additional plans for the Xbox One X. Overwatch's colorful characters and incredibly detailed worlds make it a flawless candidate to test Xbox One X's graphical power.
Overwatch received a PlayStation 4 Pro update a while back, but the update improved the user interface while leaving the actual resolution of the game unchanged.
Blizzard did update Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition on Xbox One X with full 4K support, though.
