At first, folks speculated that the male barbie was arrested for going on his Instagram to admit that he is gay, and coupled with the fact that the Lagos State Police PRO could not explain why the crossdresser was arrested, folks assumed it was based on his sexuality, and they started the #FreeBobrisky campaign on Twitter.
Bobrisky's arrest came after the snapchat celebrity stated in a post that he is gay, whether in jest or seriously, this is unclear. Alimi who is known for his uncanny views on gay rights has launched a campaign with the hashtag #FreeBobrisky and he is asking every Nigerian to support the campaign.
There is no official statement as regards this arrest yet and Bobrisky is yet to come out to debunk these claims yet as one would expect him to in his usual manner.
However, Frontline lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Festus Keyamo said Bobrisky can not be jailed for publicly admitting he is homosexual unless caught in the act.
Recall that reports had it on Wednesday that the internet personality was arrested by men of the Nigerian police in Lagos. And this happened days after he "admitted" to being gay in a post which he later deleted.
In the meantime, lets hear what social media users have to say about his arrest.
"Toyin Lawani asked her lawyer to write petitions against me that I worked for her and I'm selling cream to all her customers". She was my friend.
"Then she also said I threatened her".
"Yesterday at the police station, I was sitting at the counter and I was told I needed to wait until morning to go to Abuja".
Another close associate to Toyin Lawani confirmed her claim saying, "Toyin won't stoop so low".
