A local woman was charged with animal cruelty after firefighters discovered the remains of a ferret burned inside of an oven.
Authorities said they were called around 3 a.m. about reports of smoke in the building.
A woman who was staying in an apartment in Manchester has been accused of killing her hosts' ferret by cooking it in an oven.
Ivana Clifford, 26, was found standing outside the building with others who were forced to evacuate due to the smoke.
Murray told police that Clifford was living with her "temporarily," according to WMUR.
For Murray and her boyfriend, the loss is an unthinkable one.
Officers spoke to Ivana Clifford, 26, and charged her with one count of animal cruelty. Her bail has been set at $10,000. "It was just devastating", Cara Murray said as tears ran down her face.
Clifford was scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court-North on November 8, 2017.
She allegedly killed the creature to get revenge for stolen clothes. "And that's why she put our ferret in the oven".
