Pokemon Go just made a big change to its raids.
Niantic has made a decision to switch things up with the Pokemon GO raids, with new monsters taking on the mantle of Raid Bosses.
Some of the changes include making Metapod a tier one boss, with Gen one evolutions Charmeleon, Ivysaur, and Wartortle replacing Gen two evolutions as bosses. Tier 3 bosses has some new Pokemon, as well as some old ones.
The performance issues are believed to be tied to the update's use of a new version of Unity, the game engine around which Pokemon Go is built.
So, trainers, if the raids have been getting a little stale for you, there's brand new challenges waiting for you out there. Tier 2 bosses you'll be meeting are Magneton, Marowak, Cloyster, Tentacruel, Sandslash, and Sableye.
The only interesting new Level 3 raid boss is Omastar, which players have used as a secondary attacker in raids against Fire-Type Legendary Pokemon.
Some of the encounters haven't changed, however, such as Gengar, Tyranitar, and Snorlax.
It's not yet clear how Niantic intends to work with the Evertoon team to add a social element to its mobile games, although it is a step by the developer to try and get people back playing its games - especially Pokémon Go which has massively declined in users. Golem is one of the most useful Pokemon in Pokemon Go, so a lot of players will probably be thrilled to have "easy" access to it. Nidoking, Nidoqueen, and Victreebel aren't particularly challenging or useful in gyms.
