Deadpool comic book creator Rob Liefeld has begun a possible war of words by warning Disney of awful consequences for their upcoming film Solo: A Star Wars Story, which will release a week before Deadpool 2.
The rumor comes from the Star Wars-centric podcast The Resistance Broadcast, in which James Baney from Star Wars News Net said they got word from their sources on the film that "the reshoots ended up covering almost all of [Solo: A Star Wars Story], all of the film, and potentially up to twice the budget".
Apparently, Howard had at least 80% of the film reshot - a shocking development since most of Lord and Miller's footage had been deemed "very usable" during the director's departure from the standalone Star Wars movie's production.
When Lord and Miller were fired, there was left than a month left of shooting on the original production schedule, with about five more weeks of additional photography which Lucasfilm plans into all of their movies. "And it certainly wasn't about, 'Oh we have to start again and do it all over'".
"Obviously, it was a surprise". Solo is set to hit theaters on May 25th, 2018 after a long and arduous production process that included the firing of original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller and the hiring of Ron Howard. Ron and the guys were talking to each other.
She went on to add that, while she was surprised by the change, she thinks what's on screen will be an awesome collaboration and she went on to assure people that everything's fine. We see so often now there are two directors working on pictures. I think it's less about things going wrong than getting more help to bring it into the best position it can be in. "And it's such a great cast with Phoebe [Waller-Bridge], [Alden] Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody [Harrelson] and, of course, you know the wonderful Game of Thrones angel, Emilia [Clarke]".
