According to CBR American actor and filmmaker Scott Haze has joined the cast of Sony Pictures Entertainments forthcoming Venom movie, while Variety has reported that Reid Scott has also joined the cast.
Though featuring a character primarily known for getting about with Spider-Man, the movie is said to be it's own beast with little to no connection to the current "Spider-Man" movies.
If the deal goes through, Haze will join a cast that also includes Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed in unconfirmed roles, though it was rumored at one point that the latter would be playing Carnage, one of Spider-Man's most evil and risky enemies, despite claims from the studio saying that is not true.
Character details remain under wraps for now.
The role Haze is up for is a complete mystery, though the Carnage rumor mill is evergreen.
Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner will write the script, with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach producing the movie, along with Amy Pascal. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Venom as we learn it.
The Venom movie is a curious one, as it's slated to be the first Marvel-inspired film Sony will put out since the company teamed with Marvel Studios to release the massively successful Spider-Man: Homecoming this year.
