ZTE's offshoot brand Nubia launched two new phones, the Nubia Z17S and the Nubia Z17 miniS in China on Thursday. Both the Nubia Z17S and the Nubia Z17 miniS come with four cameras in all: two on the front and two on the rear. The smartphone also comes with a dual selfie camera.
First up, the powerful flagship Nubia Z17S features an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM.
The Nubia Z17 unsurprisingly stayed exclusive to China all these months, flying heavily under the radar of the Western tech media and mobile consumers in Europe or the US. The rear dual camera setup is comprised of a 12MP primary sensor and a 23MP secondary sensor. Camera features include 1.4-micron pixels, f/1.8 aperture, and 6P optical lens, 2X optical zoom support, 10X digital zoom support and 3D noise reduction. The OS is Android Nougat with the latest Nubia UI 5.1 on top.
The 5.73-inch LTPS screen on the Nubia Z17S has a FHD+ resolution (2040×1080 pixels), and it covers 96% of the NTSC colour space. The Nubia Z17S comes in two variants - 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage priced at 2999 Yuan which is approximately Rs 29,610 and 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage priced at 3999 Yuan which is approximately Rs 39,510. Along with this, ZTE also launched Z17 miniS, which is the successor to the Z17 mini which was launched earlier this year. The Nubia Z17 miniS will be available at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,000). The panel is protected by an unspecified model of Corning's Gorilla Glass and underneath its surface is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset featuring eight 64-bit cores and the Adreno 540 graphics chip.
The device is backed by a 3,100mAh battery with 26W fast charging support and NeoPower 3.0 power saving technology. The Nubia Z17 miniS sports a 5.2-inch full HD display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution. There is also a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device. Both the smartphones can be pre-ordered by the fascinated customers would be on traffic from the 19th October. There's 64GB inbuilt storage, and it supports dual-SIM. The camera has dual-tone LED flash and 4K video recording. The handset packs a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and comes with the company's custom user interface: Nubia UI 5.1. Connectivity features onboard include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth, USB Type-C port, NFC, and Global Positioning System.
