Arsenal boss Wenger loses rag with Merson

PAUL MERSON has taken aim at Arsene Wenger yet again - this time claiming Arsenal would win the Premier League if the Frenchman had the "tactical nous" of Harry Redknapp.

However, Merson - who played under Wenger - believes his ex-manager could learn a thing or two from Redknapp.

Merson, who played more than 300 games for Arsenal during his career, made the extraordinary claim while appearing on Sky One show, A League Of Their Own, leaving Gunners fans bemused.

"Tactically, he's one of the best I've worked with", he explained.

While the club will find it hard to win the Premier League this year, they would come a lot closer with Mesut Ozil on board. We won our first game at home and I thought we'd be alright and then went to Crystal Palace.

Interestingly, Redknapp never managed to win a top flight league title whilst in charge of any of his previous club - although he did lead Portsmouth to an FA Cup win in the 2007/2008 campaign and was recently sacked by Birmingham City.

"Harry came in at half-time and took three men off, put three at the back, five in midfield with three rolling attackers and we won 3-2".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hits back at Paul Merson's claims that Harry Redknapp is a better tactician than him, labelling the comments "a joke" and "a farce".

"That's when I knew he was a great manager".

"If I really cared, do you think I would have survived for 18 years?"

Meanwhile, Welsh League Division Three team Caerau have received worldwide clearance to play Merson, who is attempting to make an unlikely comeback to football at the age of 49.

Merson's role as a pundit on Sky Sports has left fans with many moments of laughter and confusion with his bold and audacious opinions.
