Both trips were paid for by the HHS, an official confirmed to Politico.
President Donald Trump says he is "not happy" with his Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price following reports that Price used a private plane for official business. Politico found that since May, Price has taken 26 flights on corporate jets, and in several cases, there were commercial flights available to his destinations.
Price's underlings tried to defend the secretary's use of taxpayer money to fund nearly half a million in travels over just four months saying, "This is Secretary Price, getting outside of D.C., making sure he is connected with the real American people", Charmaine Yoest, Price's assistant secretary for public affairs, told The Washington Post last week.
During one trip in August, Price flew to visit his property on St. Simons Island, a private resort in Georgia, as part of his trip to a medical conference. While in Nashville, he toured a medicine dispensary for an hour, then had a long lunch with his son, before attending a health summit organized by a friend and major Republican donor.
The President said he's "not happy" with Price over those flights and told reporters that he'll "look at it". Trump said "I'm not happy about it and I let him know it".
