New Orleans enters play at 0-2 and in desperate need for a win.
Following is your one stop access for all Week 3 game action leading up to kickoff at 1:00pm ET.
Cam Newton is now questionable to face the Saints, but the struggling quarterback should play and be ready to get his season moving in the right direction. Newton only has two passing touchdowns and a QBR of 85.3 through three games. The question comes down to if the Panthers can do much on offense.
Coach Ron Rivera has yet to figure out how to use both the veteran running back Jonathan Stewart and rookie running back Christian McCaffery together. He has averaged 94.2 yards per game, with three TDs in five games, vs. the division.
For the second straight week, the Saints defense was absolutely scorched, this time in a 36-20 loss to New England.
METAIRIE, La. - The NFL's 32nd-ranked defense will have a hard time fixing things in Week 3.
The Saints are now last in the National Football League in yards allowed per game (512.5), and last in passing yards per game at 388.5. It might be best for Payton to pick one guy and give him a full shot to see if someone can develop a hot hand and take some of the pressure off Drew Brees to carry the offense all the time. Neither Mark Ingram nor Adrian Peterson have been able to establish themselves in the Saints offense through two games. He also has four rushing TDs in the past six games vs. the Saints. Do not expect this game to be where they figure it out, with the likes of linebacker Luke Kuechly and defense tackle Kawann Short lining up defensively for the Panthers. Kamara has had more catches so far, but Lewis has made great catches in traffic for big yards. Look for them to be weapon for Brees as the season continues. As good as the Panthers have been defensively, they're bound to have to score more than nine points to beat Brees and the Saints. Carolina's defense was fierce all afternoon long, allowing just 176 total yard and ten first downs by the Bills. "You better forget about the record, you better forget the statistics, you've just got to come out and respect your opponent". The Saints need a lot of plays to go their way to win this one.
