The All Progressives Congress committee meeting on true federalism held at global event centre of Ondo state in Akure was nearly marred by an attack on the Osun state commissioner for regional integration, Bola Ilori.
The suspected thugs said Ilori should be whisked out of the venue because he is not a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Ilori, who represented Osun State at the forum, was mobbed when he left the hall to grant interview with reporters at the entrance of the hall.
Ilori, though an indigene of Ondo State had served as the Special Adviser to Governor Aregbesola of Osun State on environment and Sanitation, and now serving as the commissioner for Regional Integration in the state.
The meeting was being held at the International Events Centre, Akure, on Thursday.
Ilori he supported the governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Chief Olusola Oke, who was alleged to be the preferred candidate of both Tinubu and Aregbesola.
Ilori is regarded by the APC family in Ondo State as one of those who worked against the victory of Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu during the 2016 election. In fact, he was the Director General of Oke's Campaign Organisation.
Delegates from Ondo State at the public hearing booed Ilori during his presentation.
Security personnel at the event could not help the situation, as they kept watching the scenario, until some top politicians prevailed on the situation.
His clothes and underwear were torn by his attackers.
Immediately he entered the hall, Ilori went to the top table and accused the Secretary to Ondo State Governor, Mr Ifedayo Abegunde of being behind the attack on him.
He was rushed back to the venue of the programme nearly naked and one of the boys around from Ondo state offered his shirt to Ilori, while the programme was halted by delegates from Osun state.
Olowolabi said the intention of Ilori was to cause crisis at the venue of the programme, having mobilised people from Osun State to the programme with customised fabric bearing Oranmiyan inscription. They came with weapons and charms.
"It is clear that they are here to forment trouble and if there was any retaliation there would have been casualties".
Olowolabi said; "Ilori seized the microphone from the organisers".
He described the incident as regrettable, urging Ilori to shun violence and thuggery.
