Firefighters are helping evacuate about 100 people from the nursing home.
Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief said two people died at the facility and three more died at a nearby hospital, WPLG reports. Aerial footage showed patients sitting outside in wheelchairs and others being taken out of the facility on stretchers.
The incident happened at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills at 1200 N. 35th Avenue, Hollywood Police officials said.
The nursing home, however, remains without power due to Hurricane Irma. Florida Light and Power has been called for several days to fix the issue, but crews have not yet been able to come to the sight.
Tuesday's low temperature in Hollywood, according to the National Weather Service, was 79 degrees. Check back for updates.
