The film narrates an unusual relationship between Abdul (Ali Fazal), who was an Indian clerk, and the then Queen Victoria.
She explained that Queen Victoria's infatuation with the young man showed that romance and intimacy was not only for youngsters.
Talking about sex, she shared: "Well, of course, you still feel desire. Does that ever go?" she told the Radio Times. To the older reader, I would say: "'Don't give up", said Dench according to a Daily Mailreport, as she talked about her own experiences and feelings at the age of 82.
The film is based on a book written by Shrabani Basu, who spent months uncovering 13 volumes of Victoria's journals and the journals of Karim.
Dench who lost her husband of 30 years, Michael Williams to cancer in 2001, met her boyfriend David in 2010 when he asked her to open a red squirrel enclosure at the British Wildlife Centre. But she has found new love with 73-year-old conservationist David Mills in recent years - and the pair make sure to keep things exciting. She recently revealed some of their romantic escapades to Good Housekeeping, saying that "one hot night during the summer, we swam and had a glass of champagne in the garden". I get a bit over-excited about things.
Dench ruled out the idea of getting married again. I have a jolly nice friend. "Chap? Will chap do?"
