Doctor's auto veers off at OGH, four injured

Pic Courtesy: NDTVHyderabad: Six people including patients were injured at state-run Osmania hospital in Hyderabad, after a auto belonging to a doctor ran into a group of patients and others near the hospital's parking lot.

The critically injured were identified as 95-year-old Mohammed Qamer and 65-year-old Omar Begum, who are being treated in hospital. The auto belongs to Dr Rehan Qureshi, a plastic surgeon working at the hospital.

Plastic surgeon Dr Rehan Qureshey drove into the hospital premises in his Chevrolet Beat and handed over its keys to security guard K Shivaraj for parking it in the designated area, probably unaware that the guard did not know driving. Of them, 95-year-old Mohammed Omer, a retired Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited employee, got his leg crushed by the rampaging vehicle while Qamar Begum (55) too sustained grievous injuries on her legs. Qamar Begum, who was at the hospital for treatment of a heart ailment, would be operated upon for amputation of her foot, confirmed hospital authorities.

Six people were injured in the ensuing melee and the condition of two of them is stated to be critical. "Now she lost her foot and received fractures in leg", wailing family members said.

All the six outpatients, who came for treatment, were injured.

A case under section 336 of IPC (act endangering life or personal safety of others) has been registered.
