Top-ranked India have been placed alongside Pakistan, Japan and hosts Bangladesh in Pool A of the upcoming men's hockey Asia Cup in Dhaka from October 11 to October 22. This tournament will be of utmost importance as the victor will get a direct entry to 2018 Hockey World Cup in Odisha.

The green shirts, who are now trying to find their old form in world hockey, also won the 1985 and 1989 editions. Pakistan play Bangladesh at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka on the same day.
World No. 6 India, Asia Cup champions in 2003 and 2007 will be top team in Dhaka. The Super 4s, which will feature the top two teams from both pools facing each other once in a separate round-robin league, will see their matches take place on October 18, 19 and 21, with the final scheduled for October 22, featuring the top two teams from the Super 4s stage.
