Reading too much into the result of the traditional season curtain-raiser is ill-advised but there were positive signs for Arsenal following their 4-1 penalty shootout victory against their London rivals.
"He will score you 20 goals a season and that will be gone and will put more pressure on Lacazette".
"I think he had in his career some bad moments because he had some small injuries", Wenger said.
The French tactician also admitted Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker could all miss out. "I believe he will be a very great player".
"(Kolasinac) came on very well. All our players got a decent number of minutes of good competition, so overall the preparation of the squad looks good. You have players who are pumped up in the gym and players who are born strong - he is the second.
"His physicality will make it easier for him to adapt to the Premier League".
"His power will play a part but it's not the only thing".
"For us we thought about the issue of who we wanted to take us forward".
"Sanchez and Coutinho fall into the same bracket for me - if you lose them, you might as well pack your bags and go home now".
Wenger has of course repeatedly stated that Sanchez will stay at Arsenal this season and said the Chilean forward "has to respect that decision" but is something else going on here?
Wenger said the Chile worldwide would miss Arsenal's home fixture against Leicester City on Friday as well as the trip to Stoke City on August 19. Let's hope that the side which beat Chelsea on the weekend can have similar success against the Foxes in the Premier League.
"Today was encouraging, but nothing more".
"Then we need to transform the quality of the preparation into points and that is, of course, a pragmatic view, but what matters is we win the next game and start in a strong way, which we didn't do previous year".
