Ant McPartlin reveals how painkiller addiction almost killed him

Soon enough, the celebrity was visiting multiple independent private doctors to get more tramadol prescribed: "From the old lady who lies about her Valium supply to someone like me who was necking tramadol to the point of psychosis, in the end it's the same thing".

"I can't go to Australia and not have a cold one at the surf club with Dec like we normally do".

"I'm lucky because I have the means to do that".

'I'm very sorry about the effect it has on partners.

Ant and Dec have been entertaining us ever since they appeared on Byker Grove as the loveable PJ and Duncan.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday in his first interview since addressing his demons, the 41-year-old presenter confessed he has put his wife of eleven years "through hell" in recent weeks - but that she has been "fantastic" with her support throughout.

Before leaving for rehab, he added: "Lisa and Dec gave me a bit of a send-off from mine. And they've been brilliant throughout".

'I woke up this morning, getting ready to come here, and was given an envelope, ' Ant said.

Back in June, Ant's wife Lisa took to Twitter to thanks fans for their support at such a hard time.

"I've spoken out because I think it's important that people ask for help if they're going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery".

Now Ant has admitted that Harry, who previously admitted to seeking help after refusing to deal with the death of his mother, Princess Diana, when he was 12, wrote to him to send his best wishes.

Ant has been battling his condition for over two years, after an operation on his knee left feeling in constant pain. And the warnings are on the packet. He pleaded with his wife, make-up artist Lisa Armstrong, to take him to hospital after a night bingeing on tramadol, morphine and alcohol.

"I didn't think how risky they are", he said.

"It was never insane - I wouldn't wake up in the morning and have a drink. I was just drinking too much to numb the pain", he confirmed. "That's the danger - self-medicating".
