Samsung inadvertently confirms the long rumored Gear Fit 2 Pro

A new Samsung smartwatch has been spotted in the FCC database.

A sports-focused watch would make plenty of sense. It appears that the unannounced Gear Fit 2 Pro will be introduced very soon since it's been listed on Samsung's site with model number SM-R365. This should be a FAIR indicator of the name of the device as it heads to the production floor. It's not clear if it'll take the shape of a smartwatch or be closer to a long fitness tracker, but the most recent Gear devices have all had identical round shapes.

In terms of specs, the Gear Sport will support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Samsung has also requested that the documents regarding further details of the smart device be confidential.

Samsung is headed to IFA later this month, and it's starting to sound like we'll see some new smartwatches there.

Android Wear's position in the smartwatch market is now at an awkward state, and as a result of this, companies like Samsung and Fitbit have a chance to thrive. The Gear line has always been used for general use and making a sports-based smartwatch will make the product compete equally with Apple and FitBit, who are enjoying a big piece of the market-share now.
