Two United Nations staffers for former S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley have resigned, the ambassador confirmed on Twitter.
Haley said late Wednesday that her Chief of Staff Steven Groves and Jonathan Wachtel, her communications director, have resigned.
Bloomberg noted that he called for the U.S.to "sever relations" with the U.N. Human Rights Council after its criticisms of Israel and supported the US pullout from the Paris climate change agreement.
The resignations come as Haley heads to Vienna on Thursday to review Iran's nuclear activities with United Nations atomic watchdogs.
Before serving as Haley's communications director, Wachtel worked as a journalist and producer at Fox News for almost two decades.
Haley told Foroohar that both men left her office for "family reasons".
Haley's role at the United Nations received worldwide attention last week when she helped persuade reticent members of the Security Council - particularly China and Russian Federation - to pass tough new economic sanctions against North Korea.
Their resignations come amid rising tensions with North Korea, and days after the U.N. Security Council unanimously passed a strong sanctions package against the regime.
