An out-of-control SUV slammed into a restaurant in New Jersey late Wednesday afternoon, killing two people and seriously injuring a third person, according to police. Police report that the the driver lost control, hit utility poles, and then crashed into the side of Calloways's restaurant.
A spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutors Office said that the driver of a GMC Acadia, a 54 year old Manahawkin woman, struck the southeast corner of Calloway's Restaurant in Eagleswood.
Della Fave said Albert Rulon died en route to Atlanticare Medical Center while Patty Rulon was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old boy is also being treated for serious injuries.
The SUV was the only vehicle involved.
Many area fire and rescue crews responded to the crash including the Eagleswood, Parkertown and Stafford Fire Departments and Quality, Great Bay & Tuckerton EMS. There's no word on the cause of the accident, but busy Route 9 was closed for part of the evening commute. MONOC was the ALS.
