- The Broward Sheriff's Office just recently reported that the evening after the Fourth of July, when no one was really expecting fireworks, an incident occurred inside a Wendy's restaurant in Deerfield Beach.
The footage shows a worker sitting at a table in the fast-food eatery when the door is opened and a lit firework is tossed inside.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. on July 5 at a Wendy's in Deerfield Beach. Seconds later, the firework explodes in a hail of flaming projectiles directly behind an unsuspecting employee, leaving a cloud of smoke in its wake.
They believe eight to ten young men are responsible for the blast. "It could've ended in a fire to the establishment", said Joy Oglesby from BSO.
Officials said the blast caused a 7-inch hole in the base of a wall. "It definitely could have been a situation where we had injuries or deaths".
Ken Spears, who runs a flower shop across the street from the Wendy's, agreed that it was probably kids who caused the explosion.
"Your initial reaction is gonna be, 'Oh my god!"
