For more than 150 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (GreatFutures.org) has enabled young people most in need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
According to Executive Director, Paige Smith, in 2016 The Club enrolled more than 800 children for afterschool enrichment programs. "Some comfortable seating. A nice space for them to come in and work with their mentors". "We are proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley to provide a safe environment for the kids in our community to play hard, learn and practice teamwork and forge lifelong friendships".
We are seeking investments from the community to help provide these services and the positive impacts they accrue.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County announced Tuesday it has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the Ford Motor Fund to launch "Ford Junior Youth of the Year" to support education for underserved youth.
The program will start by helping about 25 La Crosse teens graduate from high school. Of those 134 students, 92.5 percent were seniors only one year from graduation. In the past decade, Lowe's and the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation together have contributed almost $300 million to these efforts, and for more than two decades Lowe's Heroes volunteers have donated their time to make our communities better places to live. "We can't do it alone". Mentors will meet with their students in weekly one-on-one sessions to help build confidence. Be Great is a national Boys & Girls Clubs initiative with similar programs in Green Bay and St. Louis. Through a combination of careful financial stewardship, passionate staff and volunteers and a compelling mission, the Club has generated the resources to serve more and more kids in an ever changing landscape. Because it targets students who might be struggling to stay in school or graduate on time, he said, the mentoring program was a great fit for AT&T. It's got a proven success, this program like other around the state and around the country.
