49ers LB Donavin Newsom taken off field by ambulance after practice collision

Former Missouri LB Donavin Newsom suffered a horrifying injury at practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday.

The severity of Newsom's injury is unknown, but 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said the player had feeling in his extremities. Newsom was taken off the field by paramedics and away in an ambulance after colloding with defensive back Chanceller James.

It's never great news to report when an National Football League player needs to be carted off the field and gets taken away in an ambulance. "He's on his way to the hospital. That's really all I know, and we're praying for the best".

Newsom reportedly missed Friday and Saturday practices with a neck condition before returning to full practice on Monday, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. According to the report, Shanahan did not take issue with the play that took place when Newsom was injured.

Prior to his last two years with Missouri, Newsom had recorded 29 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery combined over his first two seasons, most of the production coming during his sophomore year.
