Following intelligence reports, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) was successful in apprehending a Merchant Vessel carrying 1,500 kilos of heroin, off the coast of Gujarat, official sources reported.

"The search operation for the suspect vessel at sea was commenced by the ships and aircraft of the Coast Guard on July 27", it said, adding a vast area of the sea was kept under continuous surveillance. The case is now being investigated by the Indian Coast Guard, along with the Intelligence Bureau, the Indian Navy, and other agencies.
The ship was intercepted on Saturday off the western state of Gujarat, the coast guard said in a statement.
