Samsung's Bixby-powered speaker is on its way

Today the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) now believes that Samsung is developing a voice-activated speaker powered by its virtual assistant Bixby.

According to the report the key features and specs are still to be decided, but Samsung would likely use such a gadget as a voice control device for its range of SmartThings smart home products. It means that the company shall be taking enough time before coming up with the Bixby speaker. The English-language version of Bixby has been delayed and they said numerous speaker's features and other specifications are yet to be decided. The priority for Samsung is to make Bixby's English version available for the Galaxy S8.

While the rumors surrounding Samsung's foray into the IoT for homes has been spreading like wild fire, new reports confirm that the company is planning on bringing Bixby to homes to take on Amazon, Google, and now Siri, who have already taken over a major chunk of the market share. These are just the existing players, the rest of the competition would be coming with Microsoft's Cortana-based speaker that would launch in the fall, this year.

The English version of Samsung's Bixby has run into unforeseen problems and won't be released in the near future. Samsung said that Bixby would be introduced after the second half of July. Before it began work on Vega, it had previously planned to launch another speaker - codenamed "Hive" - at Mobile World Congress 2015. It has come to the news that Bixby is stumbling with grammatical issues and nuances of the English language. One of the most important areas of potential for smart speakers is fostering tighter functionality with users' smartphones. Share your views in the comments section below.
