Snapchat unveils Snap Map

The location feature is "opt-in", which means that location sharing is switched off by default but can be turned on by the user.

Snap Map settings can also be accessed by clicking on Dear icon on the top right corner of this feature. The new Snap Map allows users to share their location and view the locations of friends nearby.

"There's definitely the aspect of where are my friends and what's happening around them, but then there's a greater aspect of what's happening globally", Snap product designer Jack Brody told Refinery29.

"This map isn't about where am I, it's about where are my friends and what are they up to".

The Facebook page of Social+, a social media management service, urged parents to ensure that the location of their children are set to Ghost mode, so that no one could see where they were. He does not want to send notifications reminding people to use the app, he would rather they want to use it on their own.

You can now conveniently lurk on Snap Map to get a full look at how your ex is spending their miserable days without you.

Snapchat, for instance, has announced that it "built a whole new way to explore the world".

Open Snapchat and pinch the camera screen. JPMorgan Chase & Co. bought a new stake in shares of Snap during the first quarter valued at $252,388,000. One school in Staffordshire, U.K., has already issued a warning about the locating feature, cautioning that the app can "locate exactly where you are, which building you are in and exact whereabouts within the building". Chat them or maybe even go meet up. Stories are available there for roughly 24 hours.

Because Snap Map shows exactly where you are every time you open the app, there are a number of risky scenarios that could take place without a user even posting a Snap publicly.

The Snapchat version adds in a heat map that shows areas generating a large number Snapchat uploads, such as the Hollywood sign or the Santa Monica Pier. The map may help users stay connected, but critics worry that it could also be a vehicle for stalking and other creepy behavior.

AOL The map will automatically show your location and events closest to your current location.

Tech Crunch reports that you'll have the option to select who you share your location with, so there's a possibility your ex might not let you see their every move.

"Ghost mode" is what Snapchat call privacy.

Ghost mode will let you keep you location private but you will still be able to search around for your Snapchat friend's location - if they decide to keep their location public. Examples of Actionmojis today include things like: at the beach, at the airport, sitting and a handful more.

The app has over 55 million daily users in Europe - 10 million of which are in the UK.

Snapchat isn't the first social media company to allow location tracking. Snapchat is hoping that Snap Map will give it an edge over the competition, at least until it gets copied.
