While Wonder Woman is not the focus here, it doesn't cheapen her to just someone on the sidelines.
The post that sparked this conversation comes from Tumblr user Creative Words, Powerful Ideas, who wrote a declaration of sorts on the power of seeing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, a woman whose thighs jiggle while fighting up on the big screen.
Meanwhile, "Wonder Woman" continues its impressive run at the global Box-Office burying Tom Cruise-starrer "The Mummy" at the US and the U.K. Box-Office. Most notable is Barbara Ann Minerva, an archaeologist who became friends with Diana only to betray her and steal her golden lasso.
Although Wonder Woman is embedded in the nihilistic DC Extended Universe and narratively tied to other movies, the filmmakers enjoyed a great deal of freedom to establish their style. But thanks to "Wonder Woman", this is no longer the case.
Of course, being film geeks, other films were considered in the making of Wonder Woman. She admitted that today's female superheroes fall flat. So buckle in and let's see what a wonder one movie can be! She decides to leave home and join Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) on a mission to try and thwart the Germans, who are planning to release some new toxic chemicals that could change the tide of the war.
Patty Jenkins dons 'Wonder Woman' cuff at AFI event
To call "Wonder Woman" monumental would be an understatement.
"There was plenty of improvising". There was no reason to believe "Wonder Woman" would be any different.
There are a number of sequences that seamlessly switch from showcasing the unbelievable power and strength of the Amazons to a quiet, emotionally-driven scene. While these distinctions fell away nearly completely in the third act (which had plenty of other problems to keep this one company), the rest of the movie was largely successful at utilizing its WWI time period. Redditors told Jenkins they loved how the humor never felt forced and "when it needed to be inspiring, it was inspiring". Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film now holds the record for the all-time biggest domestic opening for a female director. We are shouting for sure. The concern lies in whether or not it will make a lasting impact; having the potential to change how studios and audiences see - and treat - women. She has the capacity to transform reality using magic and spells, control minds, fire magical energy blasts, teleport and even revive the dead.
Although Wonder Woman has received unanimous praise, one of the few agreed-upon missteps - once again for the superhero genre - was weak villains, with equally weak character definition and motives.
