BJP finished as the second largest party in Manipur polls, winning 21 of the 60 seats as against Congress' 28, but has allies on its side.
The MGP, the Goa Forward Party and the independents won three seats each while the NCP bagged one seat in the state.
Another senior leader, Sheila Dikshit, said Congress should shed its feudalistic image and its members should share the blame for the party's defeat in UP.
Infighting within the Congress was the reason that regional parties and independents made a decision to join hands with BJP, Parrikar said.
On attempts by BJP to retain power by cobbling up an alliance with smaller parties, Singh said he is surprised at the "hunger for power" of (Defence Minister) Manohar Parrikar and BJP. BJP has proved all pollsters wrong with an absolute majority in Uttar Pradesh.
"Our campaign and our revealing of the truth of the past 15 years of Congress misrule reached out to the masses and that's why people turned out in such huge numbers and voted for change", Singh added.

Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh had alleged that they had approached the Governor but no appointment was given to the Congress. A party delegation met the governor to express anguish over not being invited to form the government despite being the single largest party.
