After recent news that Ben Affleck is stepping down as director on The Batman, rumours are swirling that the Oscar-winner wants to drop the Dark Knight completely. Campea adds that Affleck is now "talking with Warner Bros.in an attempt to get out of being Batman". But if it is true, the new Batman director will have a pretty heavy responsibility: trying to convince Ben Affleck to extend his time in the cowl.
The latest rumor about Affleck and The Batman comes to us from our friends over at Collider via their Collider Heroes show. He added: "I have been told that Affleck is talking with Warner Bros.in an attempt to get out of being Batman, and if they do not let him out of being Batman that the standalone Batman film that ultimately happens will be the last time we see Affleck as Batman". So we'll repeat his warning here about not taking this report too seriously. Yes, because he read every review, which means he knows that fans and critics think he's the best onscreen Batman to date. And could anyone blame Affleck for wanting out of a franchise that, in its first three outings, has been polarizing at best?
Anyone who'd been keeping track of Affleck's growing frustration with the project could hardly be surprised to hear of his decision to leave the director's chair, but now new rumors suggest that Affleck won't even stay on as an actor in the movie. It has become clear that I can not do both jobs to the level they require.
But if negotiations don't fall through with Reeves, who else could potentially take over?
Groundhog day on the cards for Arsenal against Bayern Munich
Defeat to Arsenal would be a black mark against Ancelotti, but chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is backing Bayern. Arsenal has a challenge ahead of them if they want to win the Champions League .
The same letter also slammed Zack Snyder, the filmmaker overseeing the DCEU, for "not delivering" and criticised the decision to hand him the reins on Justice League, which is due out in November (17).
Over the last few months it looked like the 44-year-old star would be writing, directing and starring in the upcoming Batman solo movie, supposedly called The Batman. If I had to guess, I'd say there's probably some ambivalence on Affleck's part.
Wow! He must really not like the direction the cinematic universe is going if he wants out that badly.
