Former infielder Andy Marte died in a separate crash about 95 miles north of the capital, near the town of Pimentel.

He was reportedly driving alone in his white Mercedes-Benz when he crashed around 3 a.m.
Both Andy Marte and Yordano Ventura were killed in separate auto accidents in the Dominican Republic. Marte's peak came after the 2004 season when Baseball America ranked him the No.9 prospect in all of baseball. First, the news of Marte was released and then shortly thereafter the news of Ventura broke.
