Jim Furyk has been named the us captain for the 2018 Ryder Cup.
Furyk served as the vice-captain to Davis Love III for the United States in the 2016 edition of the Ryder Cup and now the duo has switched their roles for the 2018 Ryder Cup with Love set to serve as vice-captain.
Furyk, who will be 48 when the biennial matches are played, has played in nine Ryder Cups, compiling a 10-20-4 record.
The 46-year-old Furyk played in nine consecutive Ryder Cups (1997, '99, 2002, '04, '06, '08, '10, '12, '14), which is the second-most appearances in U.S. Ryder Cup history.
As fog slowly lifted from Celtic Manor in Wales on the final day of the 2010 Ryder Cup, Jim Furyk stood on the first tee straining to see down the fairway before hitting the tee shot in his match against Luke Donald.
The committee that chose Furyk, who's won 17 times on the PGA Tour, including the 2003 US Open, was comprised of Woods, Mickelson and Love. Furyk with all his experience knows how the Ryder Cup works and will have all the players on the same page. I don't want to say no but my main focus is on being a captain'.
"Davis will be a very tough act to follow".
Here's How to Watch the Nintendo Switch Event
However, if the Nintendo Switch is priced at $250 and it doesn't make the same mistakes that Wii U did this may just be it. Looking onto the North American GameStop website, it reveals that Pokémon Stars will be part of the console's game list.
"As far as making the team, my major concern is being the captain", Furyk told Sky Sports News HQ.
Nevertheless, Furyk, who made a late push to make the team after an early-season stint recovering from surgery, did not shut the door on being a playing captain were he to make the team on merit.
Furyk has been on more Ryder Cup teams than any other United States captain, but has only won the competition twice as a player.
"I get chills thinking about all the events I've been lucky enough to take part in".
Thomas Bjorn was appointed European captain last month. "I look forward so much to the next two years".
"He added: "I'm actually a little overwhelmed". Furyk will face a daunting task in leading Team USA to its first win on foreign soil in the event since 1993.
"I am anxious to get started and recapture the momentum we enjoyed at Hazeltine, both in the team room and on the golf course", Furyk said. "This has been my favorite event in my career".
