Michael, who had been living with Tara Montgomery, was officially adopted on December 20 in Phoenix, Arizona, ABC News reports.
This picture of an ecstatic Michael posted by Dezhianna on Twitter has been shared over 138,000 times. That tweet has gone viral, with over 55,000 retweets and nearly 140,000 likes as of Friday morning.
Montgomery said that, as a single parent, she was not initially looking to adopt Michael, just to help him.
That's when Tara chose to adopt Michael herself.
"My children's last name is Brown his was already Brown when he got here so it was again meant to be", Montgomery said.

The United States is calling the case the largest foreign bribery case in history and sentencing will be scheduled for April 2017. They have also agreed to adopt enhanced compliance procedures and to retain independent compliance monitors for three years.
Dezhianna explained to BuzzFeed News that they first welcomed the tiny tot through the foster care system, with the intention of eventually reuniting him with his mom.
Montgomery says the adoption was meant to be. He couldn't help but let everyone know that he was being adopted today. "Everyone says he looks like the girls", Montgomery said.
Here's Michael with his two sisters Dezhianna and Jordae. "He is the most loving, smart, amusing and happy kiddo". She also thanks her daughters, who had an important part in the process.
"If this can inspire just one person to make a difference in the life of a child, we are happy", Montgomery told The Huffington Post.
